Kimmis butterfly pictures

A Christmas present for my friend who always appreciates something a bit girlie.... I used a picture of a a heart shape of pale pink roses then randomly covered with cut out 3d butterflies....Very feminine and delicate.

Then I had ago at another version, this time with a lavender heart background, then I used a smaller butterfly shape using a pearlescent indigo coloured paper? the result is quite striking.......

Christmas stocking for Poppy!............

Last year I made some Christmas sacks for Angela and her husband Keith who had got married in the September and wanted Mr on one and Mrs on the other with the year of their marriage as a keepsake. This year they have a new addition to their house, in the form of a little cock-a-doodle puppy called poppy. Angela asked if I could make a stocking with her name on it. I made the main stocking out of linen and lined it with a red spot, putting the same fabric on the toe. I cut a star out of red, glitter felt and embroidered her name on this, then finished off with some jingle bells........

A welcome to Isla.........

A commission for a small quilt for a baby girl who is due to be born in the next 2 weeks or so. The mum to be is the twin sister of Jaz and he wanted to get something special for his new niece when she arrives. Jaz left the design up to me so I have kept it simple with pinks and soft green floral fabric and used heart and rabbit designs in the plain squares, and Jaz wanted her name to be included, which is to be Isla.......just hope she doesn't change her mind. The small quilt, which could be used in the pram, cot or as a floor mat, is backed with a pretty spotted soft fleece.

A request for the smart navy nautical theme for a new baby boy, born on the 6th November. with this design again, I always try to make them slightly different to the one I have done before, even if the same fabrics are requested, and I am still able to get them. In this instance the boat is a different shape to the previous ones I have made which makes it unique in its own small way.....

Sweet 16th birthday......Georgia

A girly pink and aqua heart cushion for my daughters friend who is sweet 16 on Saturday. Hopefully she will like the gift. I used a lovely soft brushed cotton pink with white polka spots for the backing......

A long awaited gift for a friends grandson..........

Although I had finished this several weeks ago I had not posted up the picture! I had coordinated a baby blue version of the boat cushion for Nathaniel who was born in March? I had kept putting it to one side while setting up my hut so took a lot longer to complete than usual, I am hoping it is a gift worth the wait!..............

Baby Leo.........

A request from my friend Marie for a cushion as a keepsake for a little boy recently born......"Leo Philip", a new nephew. Marie had liked the navy nautical fabric so have made another version with my own design boat complete with buttons and a small Union Jack flag flying..........

As the beach hut cushion went last weekend I have made a small nautical boat version in smart navy with a spot of red!..........

Wedding Butterfly..............

Pinkie/Lilac with butterflies was the request for this cushion for Diane's son and daughter-in-law to be, who are getting married tomorrow in Canterbury. I picked out the 2 toning patterns of flowers to make the butterfly then added the small spotty mauve and found this lovely cream with pink flowers for the border. The embroidery was also done in pink, as all girls love Pink!............I hope they have a lovely day and this will be a keepsake to remember it by...

The Bride and Groom........

My old school friends youngest daughter is getting married in November and wanted bunting and chair backs with Mr and Mrs on, also a cushion to be carried by her young nephew for the rings. I found some dark blue fabric that tones in with the bridesmaids dresses and did the lettering in a fine silver lame fabric for the chair backs, the bunting has been kept plain, this is to go along the top table, and the cushion is a simple plain satin with an applique heart pocket edged with glass beads and ribbon attached to enable the rings to be secured. I have piped the cushion in the same fabric as the bunting etc., to tie in all the pieces.

Surprise Wedding.......

My sister requested the "Love" design for two friends that went off and got married quietly. she wanted the fabric to be vintage and pink and greens. Hopefully it will be a nice keepsake for their special day...

Special 21st Birthday gift........

The request for a pink cushion with hearts and flowers was the order for a special 21st birthday gift, I fussy cut the pretty flower fabric into the hearts and added a button to the centre one. The name to personalise the gift to finish off..........

The butterfly fabric was chosen as the main part of the cushion and my little bird design for the motif, which includes her name. Very pretty and pink, just what little, and big girls like!........

Just finished in time to go down to my hut with me for the weekend, two cushions with the Whitstable theme.......a smart nautical beach hut, which is always popular and a soft cream with subtle shell pattern "I heart Whitstable". weather is looking not too bad for the weekend so let's hope people are out and about.

A nautical cushion for a baby boy.......

My friend Marie wanted a special gift for her friend who had a little boy recently, the cushion has been kept simple with the little boat, with his name and date of birth, and I have bordered in a smart navy fabric with cream nautical print, edged with the smart navy and white spot....

Never Enough Handbags...........

A request I had recently was from a lady visiting the Whitstable harbour village and wanted me to do a small cushion as a gift for her friend. The idea was for a neutral background with a blue handbag and then the words "Never Enough Handbags". I have a simple bag shape which I appliquéd in the contrasting blue fabrics on an ecru linen fabric, then used a mid-blue thread to hand embroider the words, then bordered in a subtle neutral fabric, small buttons complete the look....

A Happy Birthday request..........

Aisling from the shake shed in Whitstable Harbour Village commissioned a beach hut cushion for her mums birthday. she wanted it in turquoise to match her newly decorated lounge. I hope it complements the new decor....... she had liked my cushion with the little sandcastle which I had made before, and wanted the number 22 on the door, I have also added a second smaller hut in the background and quilted with a few wavy lines to add some detail to the finished look.

Beach Huts for a Baby Girl..........

a request for a girly version of the beach hut theme for a baby girl who lives in America! It is a gift from her grandparents who live locally in Whitstable and say that their daughter in law loves Whitstable, and the beach huts.....Aqua floral and Pink spot contrast was used to create this one and I kept the embroidery in girly pink!

An anchor for a baby boy..........

A personalised cushion for a little boy, this time with an anchor as the motif. I think it has come out very well and will be a classic keepsake as he grows up.

A present for a special "Teacher" ..........

It is the last day of the school term for my daughter Molly tomorrow, the 19th July and one of her favourite teachers Mrs Bontempo has sadly decided to retire. She is Molly's favourite maths teacher and has supported and encouraged Molly to do the best she can throughout her secondary schooling so far, and she is going to miss her a lot. Molly asked if I could make a small cushion with the birds on, with squares in blue and white, I had these fabrics in my stash which she liked and set to work last night and have just managed to complete it tonight!!!!! No pressure. It evolved as usual into a bit larger than she had wanted but hopefully it will be well received by her teacher when she is given it tomorrow.

Hearts for a teenager......

A Commission requested in blue for Claire who is going to be 14 at the weekend. The heart theme was chosen and Her name embroidered as a keepsake.

another beach hut version in blues..... A touch of yellow for the sandcastle and a flash of red for the button on the hut. Off to the hut I go, let's hope the sun comes out soon!......

Beach Huts by the Sea.......

with the warmer weather, and the beach hut theme being quite popular I have this morning finished this version of the beach hut...The other one I had made sold last week so I was keen to design another variation of it... I hope it proves to be equally as popular! 

A new take on the bunny theme............

As I am a bit of a bunny fanatic I thought I would try another take and made this fresh aqua coloured cushion with 4 leaping bunnies. Very cute!!

Just finished in time for the weekend this pretty pastel heart cushion made from very delicate pastel aqua fabrics with a little rose theme running through the paisley border print.... showcasing down the hut at Whitstable today!

Blean Raise the Roof fundraising ..... Finished quilt to be raffled on 29th June

the small group of Blean Stitchers, which I am an honorary member, have completed the latest quilt which is to be raffled on Saturday for the Raise the Roof Fund summer fair which starts at mid day. All proceeds are going towards the village hall extension!! I think it looks really fun and hope the winner treasures such a community master piece. The theme being "I do like to be beside the Seaside" and all blocks had to have at least one beach hut included. I think all who contributed to the finished quilt were really pleased with our efforts. Lets hope it raises lots of money!   

Contemporary Hearts......

I have finished another heart version this time with a more contemporary feel to it. The hearts are a slightly different shape to complete the look.........

another cushion which has been commissioned as a birthday gift for my friend to give her grown up daughter. Hearts was the theme and the vintage shabby chic rose fabric chosen, I hope she is pleased with the finished result.

Little Owl and Bird

I have also just completed a small version of my owl and bird cushion which has been commissioned by a friend which will be given to 2 members of staff at her sons primary school as he is leaving this term to go off to secondary school in September!! I hope they will enjoy them and will remind them of him with a smile !!!!

Happy 4th Birthday Beth.........

I have a little friend who visits me in my hut and today is her 4th birthday! I couldn't let the occasion pass without a gift and made this little butterfly cushion complete with her name. she came and visited me on Sunday and went off quite happy with it over her shoulder in a bag!!! after helping straighten out some of my tangled embroidery threads!!

Three little owls......

Just finished this rectangle cushion, complete with the three little owls, they seem quite a popular theme at the moment and as my little green owl sold at the weekend I thought I would have another go with the owl and created this simple and pretty combination.....! I think the colours contrast well with each other!!

Whitstable themes....

I have made a few more Whitstable seaside themed cushions. The bird, red and aqua fabrics I have kept simple with the seagul theme and also found the beach hut fabric and appliquéd 2 beach huts complete with their bunting..........come and find me down in Whitstable harbour village!

I have been busy this past week and made 2 more versions of the popular bunny cushions for my Whitstable hut..

the version with the 3 bunnies has a pink and off white stripped back and the single blue and pink version has a bright cerise pink back. Two very girlie combinations.
